Re-released in 2007
Analysis based on COMMERICAL HEALTH CARE AND PHARMACY CLAIMS (PAID) data
Healthcost was initially released in 2005 by the New Hampshire Insurance Department Advisory Council and the UNH Institute for Health Policy and Practice. The website was re-released in March 2007 and contains medical claims data for all New Hampshire insurance companies. The data is 2005 and 2006. Users can select specific medical procedures and then determine how much the procedures cost based upon health plan and health care service provider.
Value for employers
Employers can promote this site with their employees in order to begin the process of engaging employees in the conversation about the costs of health care services. Employees will begin to realize that their choice of health care provider often has cost implications which ultimately drive the pricing of health insurance.
