Chronic Disease Impact

Site: http://www.chronicdiseaseimpact.com/

Chronic Disease Impact is based on analysis of the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey data. The analysis includes estimates of the concentration of disease (an index of states), cost of treatment for chronic disease, and lost productivity. The information is presented by state, by chronic disease, and by risk factor in an interactive user-friendly format. The site also provides estimates for potential cost avoidance. Detailed methodology is provided on the website.

Value for employers

Like other analysis and reports that make the case for reduction of chronic disease, this website provides compelling information about the burden of chronic disease but also the importance of mitigating the risk factors. Risk factors like smoking and poor nutrition (obesity) are areas where employers have the potential to provide employee assistance and avoid lost productivity and avoid costs due to chronic disease.
