CDC Healthier Worksite Initiative
Site: http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/hwi/index.htm
In October 2002, CDC developed the workforce health promotion initiative focusing on physical activity, nutritious eating, preventive health screenings, and making healthy choices. While the initial focus was on CDC staff, the website was developed to share the information with all employers looking to implement a worksite wellness program.
Value for employers
Similar to the NH website, the CDC offers guidance on worksite wellness programs. In addition, it offers templates for a workforce health needs assessment (a simple survey of your workforce to understand the health needs of your employees), cost calculators (run the ‘return on investment’ numbers for physical inactivity, tobacco, diabetes, depression, and alcohol abuse), implementation resources, and evaluation resources.
