Analysis based on performance and utilization measure data
The Department of Health and Human Services developed and released the 2005 Health Plan Performance Summary Report in 2006 (2005 NH HEDIS Report). As part of the Comprehensive Health Care Information System (CHIS) project presents the first ever comprehensive report on information from the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures. For HEDIS 2005 reporting (2004 data year), this report summarizes information from 57 separate measures from five health topic areas: Childhood and Adolescent Health Care, Comprehensive Diabetes Care, Women's Health Care, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Health Care, and Hospital Utilization.
Value for employers
The 2005 NH HEDIS report presents comparative data about performance and utilization measures for the 3 largest insurers in NH, alongside national and regional benchmarks.
"HEDIS measurement results are made available to employers and consumers for use in reviewing the performance and quality of health plans and their health provider networks" (Issue Brief). While these measures may change over time, this report provides a valuable starting point for employers who would like to understand how insurance carriers may be "measured".
